Mudgeeraba State Special School are welcoming applications for a dedicated Head of Department, Student Engagement to join their leadership team on a temporary full-time basis from 22 April 2025 until 27 January 2026, unless otherwise determined.
As Head of Department, Student Engagement you will be responsible for leading initiatives that enhance student participation, well-being, and overall school engagement. This role involves developing and implementing strategies to support positive student behaviour, attendance, and social-emotional learning.

About The Role
The Head of Department works closely with teachers, support staff, and families to create an inclusive and supportive school environment. Key responsibilities include overseeing student support programs, facilitating interventions for at-risk students, collaborating with external agencies, and promoting a positive school culture.
The position requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills to ensure all students feel connected and supported in their learning journey.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Provide leadership and guidance for the implementation of innovative measures aimed at improving student learning outcomes and attendance in schools where a significant percentage of students may have a disadvantaged background, ensuring quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Where requested, prepare all data returns for senior management.
- Monitor students' individual performance and behaviour and develop and implement intervention strategies where necessary.
- Communicate and work with parents, higher education institutes and State Schools Division to improve learning outcomes, student achievements and attendance.
